Digital program to help give patients access to treatment and diagnosis. Also detect patients eligible for financial support from the foundation

New Delhi, September 09, 2017: YouWeCan Foundation for cancer awareness spearheaded by star Cricketer Yuvraj Singh, today announced a partnership with Navya Technologies Private Limited. Supported by Tata Memorial Centre this collaboration will launch a Cancer Outreach Programme to work towards knowledge empowerment of cancer patients to provide evidence based expert consultation and second opinion in a unique digital format. This initiative aims to bring about a much-needed simplification of the processes involved in diagnosis and access to experts to aid cancer patients in getting the best possible treatment and care.

Says Yuvraj Singh: “In my fight against cancer, I have seen the importance of expertise that can ensure a complete cure and I have come out stronger for the experience. We are conducting awareness building and screening programs to ensure early diagnosis. However, when it comes to treatment, there is a scarcity of expertise. Our partnership with TMC NCG Navya is aimed to bridge this expertise and make it available to as many people as possible.”

Aimed at cancer awareness, screening and diagnosis, the digital access will give people from diverse economical and geographical backgrounds access to expert advice, empowering them to take important decisions such as preferred line of treatment, medical services to be accessed etc. YouWeCan Foundation has always worked towards cancer awareness and with the technical support of Navya Technologies this digital outreach program will benefit scores of cancer patients.

Speaking on this collaboration, YouWeCan Foundation CEO, Ms. Shazmeen Kara said ‘We are very happywith this partnership as this initiative will help us to digitally access cancer patients from across remote locations across India as well. The vision of YouWeCan Foundation is to create a conscious environment to fight cancer by inculcating a habit of regular cancer checkups and to educate all the segments of society about the implications of the disease through affordable campaigns and this partnership with Navya Technologies is the best way to achieve our goals. We are grateful for their support in creating this meaningful collaboration innovatively bringing together the best of our combined expertise to create this digital service.”

Basis this initiative, every month 30 patients belonging to low income families from across India will be identified. The proof pertaining to income verification will be used on measures used by Tata Memorial Centre to identify a patient eligible to receive highly subsidized patient care, based on which criteria for income verification will be determined.

All the medical reports will be sent to Navya Technologies Private Limited with a unique ID for each patient by YouWeCan. Navya Technologies Private Limited will use qualitative measures such as communication of the patient, local laboratories and hospitals that patient is using for treatment, savviness with technology to categorize patients as candidates to receive support from YouWeCan.

Says Gitika Srivastava, Founder of Navya: “Navya’s vision is to meaningfully move the needle in the way cancer care is delivered. This study shows that the informatics based system and service is scalable and has positively impacted patients from all over the developing world. Expanding the reach of this service can maximize outcomes for patients, especially those in non-urban areas, across the world.”
