Bengaluru, December 4, 2015: The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy has said that Vocational Training Improvement Project (VTIP), interalia, envisages upgradation of 400 ITIs in 34 State Governments/UTs including NE States. Funding pattern between center and State is 75:25 (90:10 for NE States) the project started in Dec. 2007 and its closing date is September 2016.

Key institutional reforms introduced under the project are constitution of Institute Management Committee (IMC) at ITI level with chairperson from the industry. Physical component consisted of setting up of new classrooms, workshops and modernization of tools, equipment and machinery, training of trainers and ensuring congenial environment.

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today the Minister said against the total allocation for States including State share of Rs. 1739.60 crore, Rs 1613.40 Crores have been released.

Three ITIs, as per details given below, are upgraded in the State of Jharkhand under the project:
